work from home was one of the only perks that made it worth staying. towards the end the automated systems made it more draconian and intrusive, harder to work effectively if you were expected to take another call/ticket/escalation while working on another already.

This is one of the things Oracle gets "100% Right". Employees in many departments can work remote a majority of the time if so desired, so long as meetings and obligations are met. This is role dependent but generally saves stress, time and expense for all concerned. That said, face time is useful during the on-boarding phase for critical meetings and for general camaraderie.

There is oracle mandated policy but usually managers allow work from home a day or two as long as productivity is maintained.
