Applied online through employee referral, contacted 6 weeks later to schedule interviews 2 weeks after. HR was great arranging the flights, hotel and giving information on the process.
Interviewed in Veldhoven HQ, 4 interviews during 4 hours. I was asked to prepare 2 presentations, one on a topic of my own choice and one given by ASML. The interviews are not easy and they ask difficult questions. Most were behavioral and examples on how I dealt with problems and setbacks in my previous experiences. They expect someone sharp and capable. The first interviewers were very pleasant, nice and welcoming. The second and forth one I was very surprised at how arrogant and detached from reality interviewers were. They were rude and aggressive with a very suspicious attitude towards me. One of them spent half the time staring at his phone and even left early. They didn’t made any effort what so ever to pass a good idea on the team, company or work environment. I got the feeling they completely forget that things go both ways and the interviewees also need to like the company. The third interviewer had no idea what she was doing. At some point I decided to guide the interview myself because she was so lost and overwhelmed .
The week after I received the feedback. They enjoyed my performance and mentioned several times that they wanted to make an offer but needed another interview (this time skype) to clarify a few topics on my technical background. The interview was scheduled for 3 weeks later. I asked why such a delay, they mentioned the interviewer was on holidays. Eventually the interview came, they didn’t even turned the camera on, and asked the same questions as before without any focus on my technical skills. I was confused. The attitude was the same, arrogant and aggressive conversation. After 3 weeks I got the feedback. They consider me a good candidate, but there was no vacancy available (Why interview me in the first place then?) .
