This started with a phone interview, after which I was asked to interview in person and do a demo lesson. There was another phone conversation prior to the in person interview to review any last minute questions and details of the demo lesson. On the day of the interview o was given a tour and then invited to observe classrooms on my own for the next TWO HOURS after which I would give my demo lesson. This was incredibly awkward popping into classrooms and watching teachers and children. Additionally, they were in the middle of state testing so most of the classrooms were closed to me, I ended up floating between the same two rooms until my time was up. Finally they brought me to the classroom to do the demo lesson, they had told me to prepare a first grade reading lesson, however they brought me to a second grade classroom. I mentioned this to the recruiter and she did not seem at all concerned by the fact that the material is prepared was not relevant for this age group. At the conclusion of the lesson we went into another room to review my performance. Here, I was given the impression that this company does not want intelligent, independent thinkers, they want robots who will perform exactly how they are told, without compassion or understanding of their students curcumstances. I withdrew my application after this four hour waste of an afternoon.
