      Data and Policy Analyst Interview

      Dec 4, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Washington, DC
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Acumen (Washington, DC) in Oct 2018

      Interview

The interview process is simply tedious. It includes sending in a resume, cover letter, transcripts, and writing sample; completing an online written test; a phone interview with the HR should you do well in the written test; and an onsite interview which includes an hour long probability/logic test and 4 interviews (some one -one and some panel). While the interviewers were nice and asked relevant questions the hiring management was inefficient, unprofessional and outright disrespectful. The HR made promises they wouldn't keep. It took the management a month to make a decision and this was after following up with them four times. They sent a rejection email minutes before the close of business on a Friday! WOW! No one goes into an interview thinking they are the only candidate, it is only respectful for the HR to mention they are interviewing other people if its going to take a month for them to get back. After 42 email exchanges, hours spent on preparing for the interviews, working on online test, and waiting to hear back--the only thing I learned was that the hiring team is lacking and absolutely unprofessional, and hence applying at Acumen a waste of time.

Thanks for taking more time to leave us this review. We normally get back to applicants in a timely manner, I apologize if there was a delay. We try to find a fit, especially after the in-person interview and as you can imagine, sometimes that takes more time. Unfortunately it doesn't always work out in the end for an applicant. We wouldn't reject an individual like that unless they really need an answer and we didn't want another weekend to go by for that individual. I'm really sorry you feel this way. Our team takes these reviews seriously and we will discuss if any changes can be made in our process. All my best to you in your career search!

      Interview

Phone Screen Interview The first round was a phone screening conducted by a recruiter. This conversation focused on my background, relevant experience, and understanding of the role. In-Person Interview The second round was an in-person interview with the hiring manager and potentially a team member. This round went deeper into my technical expertise and practical experience. I was asked to walk through specific projects, explain my decision-making process, and demonstrate how I approach real-world challenges.
