First, I was prompted to be seated at the main lobby. After a few minutes, Erin led me to the two young men who were to interview me for the entry level position. This was the most awkward interview I've ever had out of the 200 interviews I've done. I can always adapt to being either professional or social. These two guys were neither professional NOR socially sound. The interviewers are NOT congruent with the way Aptiv markets itself.
More details:
I walked up to the interviewing booth in a positive and slightly assertive manner, shook hands with the interviewers, presented my name and thanked them for taking the time to interview me. Then, there was an awkward silence so I broke that by asking if their morning has been busy with interviews or if I was the first one (8AM). Without a grin or social sign of acknowledgement, one interviewer said, "Do you have a resume?". "Of course", I said with a smile. Anticipating the awkward silence that was about to happen, I filled in with "feel free to ask me any questions on my resume". They paused... for a while... so I asked them about their company culture and the vision of the company in the next 5 years. They condescendingly half-a$$ed an answer because they had no idea how to answer that question. There was more to it but I'm tired of typing, so just know that was the worst interview I've ever went through, and one of the guys had the audacity to tell me he served clients and mentioned that his clients don't stay "for some reason". I wonder why... my. goodness.
