The hiring process involved applying online. I got an immediate request from the recruiter to setup 30 mins to understand the role and about my background. Recruiter was very prompt and we had a good discussion.
The next round was with the Director which was more focused on details about the role. This happened somewhere end of June and the director told me I'll be interviewed by the core team.
After this, I was hoping to get the next round done sooner. However, for 2 weeks I didn't get any response from the recruiter, neither positive nor negative. I decided to check with them as I was already getting an offer from a different company. The next round was scheduled for end of July almost a month to the day the 1st interview happened with the director.
The interview was conducted by 7 people on the team (business and IT) and I felt it went well. I was told there will be another round scheduled for an assignment/presentation. Before this was scheduled though, I got the offer from a different company and decided to inform Confluent. I shared that I have to get back to the other company in a couple of days.
Confluent felt this timeline wasn't achievable and we called it quits there and then.
Overall, I felt the interview panel was very good in terms of judging the candidate. However, I felt they lacked the urgency of getting further rounds scheduled which I was expecting if this was going to be a key role in the company.
