      Senior Sales Interview

      Sep 19, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Naperville, IL
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Cornerstone OnDemand (Naperville, IL) in Aug 2017

      Interview

Detailed: lots of meetings with executives. Call after call, and I received the blessing. Even the hiring manager was properly closed. But like the other Glassdoor respondents added, they were inept. All these sales managers call themselves VPs are really not qualified to manage and deliver to the business. They complained about executive performance when I drilled in, but in the end, they confirmed me as a great candidate, they got scared. They preferred another year of an open headcount. Waste of my time. Worst of all was the lack of courtesy. I flew four hours for a meeting and the VP did not even have the courtesy to ask about my flight, nor to ask if I had eaten (I did not, because I assumed that we would have lunch. That's what I do for my clients.) It got worse from there. After my four hour flight the hiring manager shook my hand and walked away! Within seconds of my arrival. After I had great reviews from other execs. It got worse. I had confirmed his interest level before the flight, when I arrived, he was nothing but rude and negative. As I flushed out his concerns, that were random - the ones that were legit were addressed previously - I closed him. And he got more rude. So, it makes sense that COD is somewhat lifeless are becoming irrelevant when compared to the cool new LMSs. I had successfully uncovered where they were faltering: mid-management. Classic software fail: mid-managers with no guts. And they blamed the execs for poor execution. I sent them an email and said - no, thanks. Glad I did! I followed up with some internal associates and they confirmed my findings: mid-managers were slowing the company down.

      Question 1

Mostly background. They tried to find areas of concern to trip me up, I guess. It was pretty lame, really.
