The interview process was pleasant and somewhat easy initially, but the recruiter that handled the recruitment of this position was unprofessional. The recruiter kept calling me to pressure me to take up the offer even before the final stage of the interview and even after the final stage of the interview, wanted me to commit verbally to them before she was willing to reveal to me the results of my application. The recruiter was careful to conduct these conversations via mobile phone so as not to leave a trail behind.
When I told the recruiter I am actually reviewing all possible offers of my job applications, including the potential offer from Datadog, she seemed to suggest that since I could not commit verbally, they would not make me an offer and then ghosted me after that.
I believe the right way to conduct business in this context is to first make the candidate an offer if they are selected, and then give them some time to consider. Trying to pressure the candidate to take up the offer even before making an offer to them is not professional conduct.
