I was so excited by this interview because I really like datadog as a regular user from my current job. It's a great application.
The native language for the interviewer was Spanish like myself. So I asked her by linkedin if she wants to change to spanish and she didn't responded. Then at the meeting I asked one more time, super polite everything. Nope, she insisted on keeping in English even though the role was for the office from Madrid, España. Also she said that it was important that I can write and speak in english, things that I proved. Weird, but wasn't nothing terrible.
Before she start talking about the company I decided to clean my initial doubts:
1) Is this interview for the Madrid site only or can it be for maybe other sites? She didn't think about it, she insisted saying that the position was for only Madrid.
2) Can I choose to work remotely and go to the office when I choose or when something happens? She said no, that they work in a hybrid way (2 remote, 3 office), like a prehistorical company before Covid. I explained why I want remote work, even working close to the office, but she didn't try to negotiate anything. I think she didn't like my way of culture and she finished the meet instantaneously. It's a personal record: only 7 minutes of interview!
For last, I started reading opinions here on glassdoor about the offices and there are too many complaints about how toxic those are.
My advice for people that want to pick a job is to pay attention to the maniatic control cultures that some companies still have. We demonstrated that we work really well remotely. There are to many smart companies that trust on their employees.
