      Software Engineer Manager Interview

      May 19, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Dataminr (London, England) in Apr 2022

      Interview

I'm living in the UK and applied for a role at Dataminr for a Software Engineer Manager position in London. I had a really bad experience with this company, the process wasn't clear, and the people who interviewed me weren't aware of the process or what the role entails. Well, let me be more specific, my desire is to take the names of the people because they think that if they are in a position of an advantage they should treat people as they believe. It started with the HR, she was polite, but laking of information, she didn't even know about the interview process stages. She couldn't explain mee as a recruiter what are the interview process stages, and what each stage entails, well she was the Recruitment Manager. Well, I was successful in that stage and then the 2nd stage was with the hiring manager, who was a Senior Software Engineer Manager. Really great guy, but he wasn't clear as well about the interview process stages. The interview went so well, that we made that interview a conversation between peers, sharing books and experiences, we talked about the teams, challenges, and what would I do to help them in this role. Well, that was a clear sign that I couldn't be the right candidate. The 3rd stage was with the Senior Vice President of Engineering and Product based in New York. The guy was polite, but unprofessional and lacked respect, in the sense that he told me that he didn't even know what the role was for, which team, and what are the responsibilities. Such a shame, this shows that you don't respect the candidates. Well, it went well, and I was invited to the 4th stage. That was with Senior Geospatial Engineer Manager. He was polite, but he wasn't aware as well what that role was for, and couldn't provide many details, about the role. Without this all stages and information, the feedback about each candidate gets lost and isn't constructive. Until that stage, the interview process shared with HR was different from what the Senior Engineer Manager told me. I hope that the administrators of the Dataminr account at Glassdoor take this feedback seriously. The experience was extremely bad and disgusting. After this interview, (4th stage) I just received an email from HR, saying, that they don't want to progress and I should accept other offers.
