      Sales Development Representative Interview

      May 7, 2013
      Anonymous employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Docusign (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2013

      Interview

My DocuSign interview process started with a phone interview with DocuSign's HR coordinator based in Seattle. It was a professional yet personable exchange. I was able to get a picture of the culture within a few minutes. My objective at this point was to pass what I anticipated to be a routine HR screening and get invited to interview with the sales team. As it turned out, that interview with DocuSign's HR Coordinator would prove to be a very significant factor in my choosing Docusign and for being chosen for the role. The HR coordinator's enthusiasm and excitement were tangible. I would come to learn that the "stoke level" at Docusign is tremendously high among every manager and representative that I have met. In our first call he was able to convey enough about Docusign's direction, company culture, and career path to have me prioritizing Docusign at the top of my list. I was just starting the interview process and had some "at bats" at some of the Bay Area's finest technology companies. No other call with HR got me remotely as curious and compelled, and it didn't stop there. The challenge that he described to me was uncertainty as to when the SDR role would be available. Often this can mean you're getting brushed to the side, but his sincere commitment to stay in touch helped temper my disappointment. I may have been persistent to the point of being a pest, but he would always return my calls and give me accurate estimates of when the role in San Francisco might open. About two months later, a sales development role opened in San Francisco. I was asked to come into the office to have coffee with the SDR sales manager. This second interview was another success. I enjoyed our exchange and felt that the questions asked were applicable to the skills that were needed for this role. I could instantly tell that he was one of the most hands on Manager's in the field; something that I knew would be essential to me in the early stages of a sales career. I was given the opportunity to write a letter expressing my expectations of the company and role. The following week I was asked to come back for my third interview. This time I met with another sales manager who was an equally passionate advocate for the company and team. I had to have this job! I had been trying to temper my excitement with the reality of a lot of tough competition interviewing for the same role in a very desirable company. I had received two offers but was holding out for DocuSign. At the end of the interview I received my offer on the spot! Overall, it was a fresh and exciting interview process. DocuSign is a dynamic place with dedicated people and lots of great mentors making it happen. It was a professional and thorough experience from the interview process to the on-boarding process. My advice? You never know when your working life will offer you exactly what you're looking for. I think that my persistence was compounded by my clarity in knowing that Docusign was the company for me. Find the place you want to work for, for the right reasons - and don't quit! Good luck!

      Interview

Uninterested panel interviewers, canned questions after a presentation on background, & experience. If you have years of experience and are not in your 20s, do not waste your time. Ageism is alive and well.

      Interview

The interview process was really straight forward, first, you will have a phone screening then a fast Zoom interview with 4 managers 15 min each, and the last stage is a presentation + role play. The interviewers are really helpful through the entire process and I found it to be a really good interviewing process.
