      Financial Advisor Trainee Interview

The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Edward Jones in May 2012

      Interview

Hello all, I am posting this, because I have read about other people who went through the same stuff that I did with Edward Jones. First, I filled out the application online and was then asked to fill out another application. Second, I had another phone interview.......... Anyway, for all of you who went through this, you know the rest of the story. I thought that this was pretty much in the bag, I have a bachelor's degree and almost a master's degree and I graduated with a very high GPA. I have held down a very good government job for 6 years with a lot higher salary than what Edward Jones was willing to start me out at. Everything was going great, until I received a phone call after completing my surveys saying that there are other candidates that are more suited for success and good luck in your future plans. I wasn't upset that Edward Jones didn't hire me, besides I got on at another company that will allow me to continue working in my current government job and get my licenses at my own pace, I was upset that they made me wait 6 weeks and jump through all their hoops and no offer. I live in a very rural area, so I had to drive 200 miles for the face to face interview at my own expense. I was also a client of Edward Jones, not that I had a huge amount of money with them, but a nice account. I decided to close my account. My broker was very unhappy with this decision and tried to tell me that you made it further than a lot of the people do. I guess what I am trying to say to anyone that was denied employment with Edward Jones, just remember there are a lot of fish in the sea and if you really want to be an advisor and already have a job, start making some cold calls to smaller firms in larger cities and I bet by the end of the week you will have an offer. One Nice thing I will say about Edward Jones is that anyone who interviews with them will gain a huge advantage on how to attract new business, if you don't have too much pride to go out and knock on doors and sent thank you cards to all that you have a business meeting with.
