      Mar 8, 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Dallas, TX
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Edward Jones (Dallas, TX) in Nov 2016

      Interview

When you apply for the position as a FA if your resume is attractive you will get a call from a recruiter. This interview will last 30min of strictly behavioral questions, if they like you, you will get to do an in-person interview with a financial advisor in your area. In the in-person interview again you will be asked behavioral questions tell me about a time...? If the in-person interview goes well you have 1 week to complete a business plan. This will include how you will get clients for you business. You will have another phone interview explaining your business plan to the hiring manager. Then you will have to do a day in the life as a financial advisor. You want to get in an area you are comfortable and quiet you will be calling people and convincing them to began to invest with Edward Jones. There will be alot of people saying NO, but you want to stay positive and never give up. Make sure you are very organized for your day and be sure to make your meetings. This part of the interview is the most nerve racking, but they want you to get a feel with how it will be in real life. You will get rejected ALOT but you have to remember to continue to move forward. They will give you a list of all the people's names and the situation they are in, make sure you study and organize everything before you do the day in the life. Practice with someone and lay out your day before you even start. Depending on how well you do, they should call you pretty soon with an offer. These are real people (actors) you are on the phone with so be nice, and do not be afraid to call. Do not ever stop calling. If you do not like talking to people or listening to their financial problems, this probably is not the job for you. I got an offer 30min after I finished my day-in-the-life as a financial advisor.

I applied online. I interviewed at Edward Jones

      Interview

Interview process first consists of numerous dinner events, all very laid back where you get to learn more about the company and the advisors in the region, and they get to learn more about you. If you keep getting invited back to dinners, consider it progress in the interview process. Honestly, the best, most effective interview process.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Edward Jones (Vancouver, WA)

      Interview

it's a series of interviews with people in the office then a full-day of simulating the role of the advisor where you're receiving calls from clients and team mates as well as receiving emails. As a career-changer, this was the part of the interview phase where I realized Edward Jones wasn't the right start to my career as a financial advisor and ended up going somewhere that invested in my growth rather than a "sink or swim" type of place.
