I applied online. I interviewed at Electronic Arts (Austin, TX) in Sep 2019
Interview
Phone call from internal recruiter. Reviews resume and attempts to reconcile with openings. Resume gets submitted to hiring manager, which, in my case expressed interest. Then I was notified of an EA assessment via codeingame.com for a 2-3 hr online test. The test covered both C++ and some rather non-trivial SQL. Not entirely sure who picks questions or if it was randomized. Some of questions were very esoteric and of little interview value. Each question individually timed, with some having excess time to complete, while others, not nearly enough. As I heard nothing else, it appeared that scoring well on this assessment was a requirement for further consideration.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
One question was a non-trivial SQL query where I may have had 8 minutes to answer. It involved a table with 3-4 other related tables, one of which contains history of individual orders. You are asked to list the customer name, customer_id with the most orders.
My experience with the initial recruiter screening was disappointing. The interviewer seemed disengaged, barely made eye contact, and treated the screening as a perfunctory task, wrapping it up in just 10 minutes. Despite my thorough preparation and follow-up questions, the conversation felt dismissive rather than professional.

Interview
The process was professional and moved at a great pace. It started with a recruiter screen, followed by a meeting with the hiring manager, and concluded with three panel interviews. Each conversation felt like a genuine peer-to-peer discussion about building high-performance platforms. The recruitment team was very communicative and open throughout the negotiation. Overall, a very positive experience.

Interview
The interview process was good and thorough. It was great to chat about my experience with the hiring manager. The process started with a recruiter screen then a hiring manager interview.
