Nice and respectful people. Unfair and frustrating results.
Applied online to a Senior Game Server Engineer, two weeks later a recruiter got in contact for first screening and to schedule an one hour interview with a technical director.
After first interview I was invited to a 4-hour panel consisting of coding, technical, cultural fit, and project management.
The interviews were quite straight forward, with no tricky or crazy hard questions like Amazon and Google.
The very next day I got a call from the recruiter saying that I had received really good feedback from all interviewers, except one: a technical director from the cultural fit interview stating I didn't have enough backend experience for the role.
This veto got everyone surprised and I could tell by the voice of the recruiter that even he didn't know what to do once I have 10+ years of experience on the matter and got that rejection note from an non-technical interview.
After a few days trying to workaround the situation, the recruiter came back with a closure saying that the veto was not removed.
It was a fast, organized and smooth process. It had everything to be a positive experience, even if not ending as expected, but knowing that a single person that don't like you can spoil everything with no explanation doesn't feel very good.
