Eventbrite Engineering Manager interview questions

Went through the Hiring Manager phone screening stage after the recruiter phone screening. Although the Hiring Manager seemed to be positive and told me about the next stages, after 2 weeks of no response I asked HR about the process and got an answer that the “team” wanted to proceed with other candidates. Thats fine but why with no notice? (I also dont really understand why HM’s stand out to be very positive during the interviews, if there is a concern or unmatch let the candidate understand about it and minimize their expectations)
