Sent my resume via their website, and received a message from the recruiter approximately 2 weeks later to setup a phone interview (Since I am not in the same state). The interview was brief, I was suprised I even got an interview considering my work experience and the experience they were looking for. I figured at some point the Director of Customer Experience would ask about my short work experience but the topic never came up.
The conversation was enjoyable, I was very knowledgeable about the organization, but extremely brief. I got a letter a week later saying they were pursuing other candidates with more work experience.
When I realized that they weren't going to ask me about my work experience, and I knew it would be a mark against me I should have made a point to discuss it. It's nice that they will give individuals the oportunity who don't necessarily meet all the job requirments, but they will not necessarily ask you to explain your shortcomings. You need to head it off and make a point to discuss it.
