I applied in-person. I interviewed at Farmers Insurance Group (New York, NY) in Jan 2014
Interview
very easy going, looking for people who want to run their own agencies, want to be sure you are ethical and are willing to put the customer's needs first.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
how much money do you want to make, are you willing to put in the time to make this work for you?
Why do you think you would be an good insurance agent. Tell me about your self. What are your greatest strengths? What is your biggest weakness? what would your co-workers say about you as a salesperson?
Was basic and tedious asking me questions about my prior work history so make sure that I understood the job role. Overall it was not difficult to formulate an answer to the questions.
The interview was professional and conversational. The agent clearly explained the role, expectations, and growth opportunities. I was asked about my communication skills, work ethic, and goals. Overall, it felt welcoming, informative, and focused on long-term potential rather than pressure
Detailed with multiple calls. Explained in detail the onboarding and training processes including the financial obligations with starting an agency. There was a personality test to help determine fit with the company.
