I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Five9 (San Jose, CA) in May 2024
Interview
Recruiter reached out and we had an initial sync on my role. I was not really happy with the professionalism of the recruiter.
Recruiter was 5 minutes late, when I was 10 minutes early. So I waited 15 minutes for them to join.
Almost immediately upon joining the call, with little intro, the recruiter expressed doubts about matching my current salary from my current company, without even knowing my salary.. Then they asked my salary expectations, stating, "Oh we can do that" in a relieved tone, which implied to me that I just undersold myself. The first comment was unnecessary.
They asked me if I'm applying to other companies, and I said yes, I am casually looking as I am comfortable in my current role. Recruiter said "and that worries me". What do you want me to do, be desperate?
Then the recruiter told me that the hiring team has NOT moved forward with any candidate without experience with a product which I lacked. This was just a single buried bullet point on the job description. If it is a deal breaker, then why even interview me if you knew I didn't have that experience?
Overall, the tone I got is "I have already decided not to hire you". Just a waste of time.
Thank you for providing your feedback on your experience. We're continually looking to improve candidate experience, so we'll take your comments under advisement.
