The initial video interview with a company recruiter was great! She showed a genuine interest throughout the interview and seemed to think I was a an excellent candidate for the role. At the end of the interview, I was invited to the next round. The second interview immediately started with a bad vibe when the first interviewer who joined declined to enable her camera due to expressed concern about internet connectivity. The second interviewer was a few minutes late so there was an awkward delay for the actual interview to start. Although I attempted to clearly convey my qualifications and strengths as a candidate, I did not get the impression that they were seriously considering me for the role. With only one of the interviewers using a camera in a scheduled video interview, it added to some frustration missing out on the non-verbal communication. It also did not convey the same level of professionalism that I offered to the interview experience.
