Flexport interview questions

Coderpad session followed by an onsite. The CTO described it as a Google-like interview. I would describe it as "Google Lite." It wasn't that long and the coding sessions were lightweight. Not necessarily a bad thing -- at least all the questions were relevant. I am intrigued by their business's potential but it rubbed me the wrong way how they act like they are the saviors of international shipping already. I also noticed that there wasn't a lot of smiling around the office, except among the management team. It's an open office and I was there during lunch so I saw quite a few people. It might just be because they had hired a lot of new people so people were still getting settled. But it felt weird.

Received an invitation for a phone interview, which went over my background, current roles, etc. Was then invited to an on-site interview due to my experience within the industry, but was later told I did not get the position due to my experience (or lack of); I was dumbfounded. I left feeling great about the interview. This could've easily been handled over the phone. It seems that Flexport is looking for a specific type of person; undoubtedly people who fit in to the tech startup "norm" rather than those that stand out. But that's pure speculation. Do I think great candidates fall through the cracks? From the previous reviews posted on Glassdoor, yes, absolutely. Sounds like plenty of candidates who have 100% potential to do this job, a drive for the industry, and would willingly bust their *** day in and day out to support what Flexport is looking to accomplish are being passed on. And that's devastating to hear. But at the end of the day, you can either present yourself how Flexport wants you to, or you can't.
