From start to finish the process took almost 2 months with 5 stages. Initially contacted by internal recruiter and did a 30 min interview. Was told I’d have feedback within the week. After chasing up once 2 weeks had passed, was told they were going with candidates whose experience better aligned with the role. A few days later I was contacted to say they’d changed their mind and wanted to progress me to the next stage. Met with someone who didn’t introduce himself or give me his title and had the most bizarre 30 minute interview ever. Again the timeframe for feedback elapsed so I chased and was then progressed to the next stage. Had another 30 minute interview with the person I’d be reporting to (although I’d been told beforehand that the next stage would be an interview with the client) who asked basically the same questions as the first 2 interviewers and afterwards asked me to share examples of presentations I’d created. Again the feedback timeline expired and I chased and was then told I’d be meeting the client. Met with them for 30 minutes. Then 3 weeks passed with me chasing up only to eventually be told that they’d gone with a candidate whose experience better aligned with the role (so exactly the same as the first time they rejected me 2 months ago). The final stage, which I didn’t reach, would have been an interview with HR. Also every time I chased and got a response they then expected an immediate response from me (one time I didn’t answer the email for 20 minutes and they sent another!) and for me to be available for interview the next day. I really feel like my time was completely undervalued and wasted, particularly as after 2 months of interviews I got rejected for the very same reason I was initially rejected for. The process was so bad that throughout it I told my friends and family that if I didn’t desperately need a job, I’d have told them to stuff theirs multiple times. 5 rounds is also absolutely outrageous (especially for a role with a salary that’s less than market value). I don’t know why, instead of 5 interviews or 30 minutes with one person each time they don’t do longer interviews with multiple people. I also had multiple interviewers turn up late and they filled the whole 30 minutes so that I rarely got the chance to ask questions of my own.
