      Customer Service Representative Interview

      Jun 4, 2012
      Anonymous employee
      Woodbury, NY
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at GEICO (Woodbury, NY) in May 2012

      Interview

The GEICO hiring process is one of the longest, most tedious ones I've ever experienced. They are very picky because they want to make sure you are a good fit. The whole thing takes about 9-10 hours broken up over 2-4 visits or so. First of all, you apply online through their website, upload your resume/cover letter, and take a personality test. This gets reviewed and the next step would be an email to schedule a phone interview. The phone interview is a real and through interview. They will go over each of your past jobs and any gaps in your resume. You will be asked the same questions many times during the interview process. You will describe your current work day and be asked if you applied for any civil service jobs and how you scored on those. The next step is a group test. You will take a group test to see if you can handle taking information in through a headset and enter data simultaneously. Pass that and you will move on to your First 1 on 1 face to face interview. Here you will be asked a ton of "tell me about a time you really connected with a customer" questions. You'll also describe your current work week, and relevant experience here. This position really focuses on connecting with each customer, meeting very high goals, and working in a noisy and rigid work environment. At this point if they are interested you will sit side by side with someone doing the job you are applying for. Then you'll move on to another very similar interview with a supervisor of your section. And finally, another 1 on 1 interview with a manager of the department. Each asking you to prove yourself worthy of working in an intense and closely monitored environment. At this point the manager will offer you the job and explain some of the benefits. You'll receive a phone call from HR a few days later with an official job offer and at this time you will schedule a hair sample drug test/physical examination. The final step is a background and credit check will be conducted around the same time. If everything checks out you will receive a second official job offer/congratulations and your first scheduled day of paid training. This whole process could take one 9 hour day plus drug test, or a whole month of 4 different visits.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at GEICO (Tampa, FL)

      Interview

It was a weird process, first it was on zoom and my interviewer told me to turn off my camera because of the bandwidth issues. Then she asked three questions and provided me the job description and the hours. She then asked me if I was looking for other work and If I was currently working. I did tell her that I am currently working and she told me that I have enough time to provide my current job a two weeks notice. After the interview she told me that she was going to endorse my application for review. Then she sent me another email saying that “Your recruiter will be in touch with you for next steps”. Then in the middle of night not even 24 hrs, I get a generic email saying that I was passed on. I wanted to find out why did I get an email saying that a recruiter was going to contact me, then I passed on from someone else. This was a customer service position and during the interview she told me that I have a lot of experience. I just didn’t like during that interview I was given false hope. I would not recommend applying to this company.
