GRAIL interview questions

I submitted my application through their website. I was reached out to by a 3rd party Recruiting company 3 weeks prior to doing that. I completed their process as they were going to reach out to the hiring manager....then nothing. From there, I applied directly to the website. Hiring Manager reached out quickly to set up a 30 minute call. From there, there was minimal contact and 2 weeks later I was asked to come on site. Questions were primary focused on on my current role, I was interviewed in 3 rounds with people from the lab, direct hiring manger, and eventually HR. It is a start up and things can get busy, but the lack of correspondence and disorganization did not make me feel confident in this being the best thing for me. They have an amazing mission and are doing impactful things in the cancer realm. I cannot wait to see what they do, but I would hope they would treat applicants in the same manner as patients they plan to serve in the future. The whole process took more than a month. I hope as they grow these processes will be a lot more streamlined.

I was approached via email by the recruiter for the position who wanted to have a phone conversation with me. While scheduling the conversation, it switched to the hiring manager who I spoke with directly. We chatted about my previous and current research, as well as a little bit about the role itself. At the end of the conversation, I was invited to come out to present my research and meet the team. What followed was a several weeks long cat-and-mouse game with the recruiter who initially reached out to me. Over the course of several phone calls, it went from trying to get everybody's schedules aligned, to putting me into a holding pattern of sorts, to not being responsive, and then ultimately to declining my candidacy due to the position being filled. Given that this cat-and-mouse game lasted so long (probably around 6 weeks), I honestly have no idea what was going on, especially since the hiring manager seemed sincere in the invitation to interview in person.
