Fairly short phone screen, she explained the intern program and asked me about leadership and work experience. I asked her about her personal experience at GitHub and GitHub's actions in standing up for net neutrality since it was fairly big news on their website at the time. I thought it might be an easy segway to talking about company culture since that's what drew me to GitHub in the first place. Might have been to political because it pretty much ended the conversation, she lost the little interest she'd had before. Afterwards, I felt like she just wanted to get off the phone as quickly as possible and she ran through my resume like clockwork. And that was that.
My advice is to be professional, stick to the script, and don't ask personal questions about the interviewers own experiences. My recruiter was interested in getting info, not having a conversation. Good luck!
