Interviewing with Greenhouse was by far the best interview experience I have had in my career thus far. After submitting my resume and cover letter online, I was contacted by a recruiting coordinator within two days. She was friendly, warm and knowledgable, and set a great tone for the rest of the process.
The first step in the process was a phone screen with a current Customer Support Specialist- we had a brief chat about my background, my relevant experience, and my goals. I felt like the company was genuinely interested in learning about me beyond my qualifications as listed on my resume. The next day, I had a brief touch base call with the recruiting coordinator- I had a chance to reiterate my excitement for the position and ask any outstanding questions I may have had. She filled me on the next step in the process- a take home activity to complete over the weekend.
The activity itself was fun to complete. It gave me a chance to show off my ability to perform essential functions of the position I was applying for in a practical and fun way. I admittedly chose what I felt might've be an out-there topic for my project, so I was pleased when I got very positive feedback on my work. It reaffirmed my interest in the company, and drove home the point that Greenhouse isn't quite like any other company.
The next step in the process was a more in-depth call with another current member of the Customer Support team. This call took about an hour, and the questions really delved into my experience and how it would translate into the position. After each question, I was offered validating feedback that showed engagement and active listening. The call made me feel great, and I ended it feeling like I'd really been able to convey the value I would add on the team.
The next day, I received an email arranging the final step- an on-site interview at the Greenhouse office in NYC. This interview was quite long, but don't let that intimidate you. I was given the opportunity to meet five different members of the Greenhouse team in various roles within the company. These interviews assessed my cultural fit, gave me an opportunity to ask questions of potential teammates, elucidated what my potential growth opportunities within the company could be, and familiarized me with what the day-to-day functions of the position are. Overall, the experience was incredibly positive. I left feeling like I would really fit into the team and excited about the work I could do with the company.
The next day, I received an offer and quickly accepted. I am so impressed with Greenhouse, and believe you will be, too- they really practice what they preach in terms of great recruiting process and candidate experience.
