Interview
I recently interviewed for and accepted a BDR role at Groupon. The interview process itself was straightforward and low-friction. The communication was timely, expectations were discussed, and the overall experience initially indicated a solid recruiting team.
However, after reviewing more reviews online, I took a closer look at the role and wanted make sure I had a clear understanding before starting. I sent a series of follow-up questions focused on the training process, resources available to new hires, and expectations during ramp-up and beyond. These are standard, reasonable questions for any candidate making an informed decision.
I sent three separate emails and received no response to any of them.
At that point, the lack of communication was alarming. If basic candidate inquiries go unanswered after an offer is accepted, it raises concerns about internal organization, onboarding quality, and overall support for new hires. Based on that experience, I chose to rescind my acceptance. The interview process may be efficient, but the follow-through, or lack thereof, was wildly unprofessional. Candidates should expect responsiveness and clarity, especially after accepting an offer, and it's interesting how many companies forget that their talent pool can also be their customers.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Groupon
Interview
Submitted resume through a referral. Called for interview, called back 2 weeks later to offer position. Interview was long, interviewed by two people. They asked about past experience and to role play a sales call.
