Interviewing with Groupon for me, personally, was smooth, straight-forward and enlightening. I chose those three words because of specific reasons. I felt the entire interview process went incredibly well, from talking with HR and the team who i would be working for, all seemed positive, enthusiastic and passionate about what they do. From the phone interview to the onsite interview, i felt at ease and somehow felt very comfortable during the entire process. The phone interview were general questions regarding my career background and minor questions to figure out my personality. Once i talked to HR, i talked to 5 different individuals separately on the phone. I would have to say the entire phone interview process from start to finish took around 2 weeks. Once i was able to pass that section, i was called for an onsite interview in Chicago. Groupon did an excellent job in getting a great flight schedule to a great hotel for me to feel comfortable in a new city. The onsite interview consisted of a presentation and talking to some of the team members individually. Each individual i talked to were bright, motivated and excited to talk to me. Just because they came to me with a great attitude, i was able to return that favor of exchanging a great conversation. About a week after my entire interview, i was offered a job.
My general thoughts were that even though the interviewers were laid-back, the interview questions were very professional, related and it required some skillful thinking. Always expect the unexpected.
Even though the onsite interview seemed disorganized, i was able to take that and use it to my advantage. In all this disorganization, it is great to see how fast Groupon is growing as a company.
