1. Got an automated email from CEO's email address to ask me to fill out a typeform survey screener (interesting but efficient approach i suppose). It tells you a little bit how they think about design. And you can decide if it is for you
2. After survey, an informal meet (pre-covid) with hiring manager.
3. One 1-hr onsite interview with a product designer.
4. Final onsite with the team (pm, eng, founder, hiring manager) + big chunk of time for onsite design test exercise
Overall very straight forward with a caveat.
The test exercise itself is not that hard if u have a good understanding on analytics or strong system's thinker. It requires some time to prep if u are not familiar analytics, it won't be for you. Try to get a test account before hand.
During the process, i realized i was suppose to get access to the platform to study ahead of time. However, my recruiter was very sloppy and never mentioned it. I was only able to play around with the day of the interview.
I've done a few onsite design exercises (whiteboards and sitting down creating design in sketch). All I can say there is a specific type of ppl they are looking for sure. that's why the exercise is structured in a very specific way.
They don't ask you do redesign a fictional experience such as kisok or app for kids etc. They are asking you to redesign a few views in their app. hint: prep ur analytics basic concept / whys and how it connects to mental model of users
Everyone is very professional even though I didn't bring my A game. The negative experience is mainly with the recruiter. the instruction to prep for design exercise was poorly communicated .it was a huge red flag to find out i was not given access ahead of time.
