I applied through college or university. I interviewed at IMC Trading (Chicago, IL) in Oct 2020
Interview
Made it to the one-way interview after completing the technical assessment (2 coding questions, 90 minutes total: one simple BFS question and one modified stack question).
One-way interview only gives you 15 seconds to prepare and 45-60 seconds to answer. The first half is behavioral and the other half was technical. They were mainly looking at your communication skills for the entirety of the interview and technical knowledge for the 2nd half of the interview.
Interview questions [5]
Question 1
Is the total number of distinct unsigned 32-bit integers different from the total number of signed 32-bit integers?
How would you explain the difference between a stack and queue to a non-technical person? ( More than one minute was given to prepare and 2 minutes to answer for this one)
I applied online. I interviewed at IMC Trading (Amsterdam) in Dec 2025
Interview
it was hard, was not a standard medium or hard leetcode problem. it was an optimization DP problem. study competitive programming from books for it, and be ready 💪
this is my experience.
Applied online. Got a coding OA. Then received a video assessment where I was asked to explain questions about computer science fundamentals. This felt a bit strange and I did not pass.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What is the project that you are most proud of and why
There was first an online assessment with two medium coding questions. After passing, there was a virtual interview with a small technical short response section and a basic behavioral section.
