I was shopping at J. Crew one day and I decided to pick up an application. I spoke with one of the managers who was very friendly and excited that I had an interest in working there. About a week later, I came back to turn in my application and set up an interview. The interview was 1:1 and relatively painless after reading reviews here on Glassdoor. Be sure to know what J. Crew's style is (especially from the company's standpoint) and try to cater your own style around theirs. Also note, this is not the place where being radically different from the company, as far as fashion sense, will help you land the job. It's very much about the look of the company, how knowledgable about it you can be and how well you can represent it through your own style. About a week later, I received a call offering me a position. Keep in mind as well, I think I had very good timing and a lot of luck as the store I applied to was undergoing a massive hiring phase both on the floor and in management.
