I interviewed twice with Launch Darkly, once for a product manager role and another time for an Enginineering Manager role. The PM role was more of a “try it and see” since I had tons of experience with their product and feature flagging in general. The second time, it was a role more aligned with what I have done for the past 7 years, albeit a step down from Director in my last role.
Both times, I spoke with the same recruiter and left with a positive impression that I was moving on in the process. The interview itself was typical for a recruiter screen and polite enough, however I got the generic template rejection email.
Honestly, I found the process frustrating and insulting. Especially the second time around when the recruiter thanked me for meeting with them and the VP of Engineering, I never had a chance to speak with the VPE. The idea of skipping over someone with deep industry experience without an HM screen or skills interview was beyond frustrating.
They could learn to conduct interviews better.
