I applied online. I interviewed at Lithic (New York, NY) in May 2024
Interview
The interview was over before it even began. I applied for the Senior CSM role on April 30, 2024, and received an email from the recruiter on May 3, 2024, expressing her enthusiasm for my background. We scheduled a time to meet, but she failed to show up for the call. I followed up with a polite email, and she responded:
"First and foremost, I deeply apologize for missing our call. We are currently at our company retreat in New Orleans, and my schedule has been somewhat rearranged. Would you have any time tomorrow or Thursday morning to connect? Whatever time works best for you, I'll clear my calendar and make sure I'm available. Again, deepest apologies for the inconvenience, and I appreciate your understanding!"
I selected another time, but she informed me that her meetings were running over and she needed to reschedule again. Understanding that things can come up, I agreed to another time. However, after that point, she completely ghosted me.
I was floored by such unprofessional behavior, especially considering that she had been out of work for 4-5 months before landing her HR role at Lithic. One would expect her to be empathetic to the challenges of the job market. Ultimately, I chose not to reach out further because if her actions reflect how the company treats candidates, it is clearly not a good cultural fit.
Hire people who deeply care about their responsibilities, not those who perform their duties in a perfunctory manner.
