In Feb was contacted by a lead engineer who was working remotely and forming a new office in my area. After an initial phone screen with HR, did a couple of at-home dev tasks (completed both in an evening), then a technical screen via Hangouts. Each of these were a few weeks apart; it seemed like HR is not a fast process here. The person doing the tech screen had not reviewed my code and asked me questions about some other candidates solution. They asked some technical questions but honestly nothing too hard (I am pretty sure I could have answered anything they hit me with my first year out of college). Eventually I got an invite to Florida for an onsite. Nothing too hard on the tech side, mostly seemed like they were looking for 'cultural fit'. Anyway it seemed to go well. Then ... silence. After a month I pinged the recruiter - no reply. I then pinged the lead engineer who I'd be working with - turns out he had left the company a few weeks after my interview. New office = cancelled. I guess HR decided silent treatment was easier than saying "no"? Oh well at least I got a demo.
Anyway everyone I met seemed both nice and smart, and the tech looks amazing. Hope they figure out their recruiting process.
