Interview
Recruiter reached out via email, scheduled a 30-min call followed by a 1-hour technical screen and a hiring manager interview that was purely behavioral. Then came the virtual onsite consisting of three rounds of 1-hour interviews (two technical, one behavioral). Recruiter is very understanding and responsive. I received an offer call three days after the onsite. The interview process is a bit lengthy but everyone I talked to was super nice and friendly. A very all-rounded interview process and I appreciate the organization.

Something along the lines of tell me about a challenging project in the past. Leetcode easy-medium level with great focus on communication
The process started with a recruiter phone screen followed by a technical interview that focused on system design and problem-solving. It concluded with a behavioral round emphasizing team fit and communication. Each round tested both technical and soft skills.

They asked me to design a system that could scale to support millions of users while maintaining low latency, focusing on trade-offs in database sharding and caching strategies.
The process was four rounds, it consisted of one HR screening, one technical coding interview and two behavioral interviews with software managers. Very prompt and smooth process, the recruiter was in constant contact and very pleasant to deal with.

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Marqeta (Mississauga, ON) in May 2025
Interview
Typically 5 interviews, 6 in my case. The first is a general screening with the recruiter. Second is the coding interview. The third interview consisted of a behavioral interview that partly went into both experience and technical questions with the hiring manager. Fourth and Fifth were virtual on-site interviews, consisting of a behavioral interview focused solely on previous experience as opposed to hypothetical scenarios, and a system design-style interview.
The interview process is significantly longer than some other companies', but overall a pleasant experience. The recruiter and interviewers were friendly and helpful.
The coding interviews, in terms of difficulty, were in the range of LeetCode easy-medium questions.
The system design interview was challenging with conveying depth while also keeping track of time, even with preparation.
The behavioral interviews require a solid foundation of experience to be able to reflect on. Use STAR/CAR answers as much as possible. Be prepared to expand on any technical concepts mentioned in your experiences.
