I was contacted by a recruiter to interview for the associate position. I emailed the recruiter my resume, which is parallel to the experience on my LinkedIn profile. Before we started the interview, the recruiter asked me if I had any questions. When I asked my questions, the recruiter responded "that's a great question for the hiring manager, but I'm not too familiar with the role, I'm just a recruiter". We then discussed what I'm looking for and my experience. The recruiter was not aware that I didn't not have experience in the health benefits sector so he told me the position was not a good match for me. He advised that he "took a chance" to call. I understand the responsibilities of a recruiter can be fast paced, or require a lot of research, however its important to consider the applicants time. The interviewer of course is on the clock, however the applicant may have used their lunch time or taken a day off. Lets put the human back in Human Resources and consider the applicants time. Moreover thoroughly review a candidates resume to determine whether they may be qualified for an interview. It makes it seem as if the recruiter is just fishing for applicants and has a quota to meet. Overall, the recruiter was nice.
