      Program Manager Interview

      Apr 30, 2014
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Palo Alto, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Medallia (Palo Alto, CA) in Mar 2014

      Interview

I initially found out about the open role through LinkedIn and applied through the company site/link on LinkedIn. About 2 weeks later, the recruiter contacted me for a quick 15-minute screening. Then it was a 30-minute interview with one member of the team who was currently in the role, followed by another round of phone interviews (an hour each this time) with more team members. There were about 2-3 weeks of radio silence between the first interview and the second round. I didn't hear back from them and since I didn't think too highly of the company after the initial interview, I didn't care enough to follow up. Eventually, the recruiter reached back out as if nothing had happened and set me up for the follow-up interviews. After the 2nd round of interviews, I was asked to complete a "challenge" assignment (a homework that consisted of Excel analysis work and another task). The challenge was supposed to take anywhere between 6-8 hours. I didn't do well in the challenge and never heard back from them. I only learned that I was not selected for the role after I went into Jobvite to see the status of my application. I thought that was a bit rude. Given the time I had already invested at this point (2 rounds of interviews plus the challenge), I thought I should've gotten a "thanks, but no thanks email" for some sort of courtesy closure even though I knew I didn't do well on the challenge.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

All the questions were pretty standard. They asked a lot of questions about what you learned from the experience/situation and what you think you would've done differently.

Thank you for your feedback. We're very sorry to hear about your experience interviewing with us and deeply regret that this oversight in communication occurred. While we strive to have a fast interview process, the number of candidates we interview has multiplied during his period of high growth, and at times this has impacted the length our process for some candidates. That does not explain our lack of a follow-up, however. We have a firm policy in place to connect directly with candidates about their status as soon as we hear back from our interview team, whether we decide to move forward with them or not. We're investigating how this lapse occurred in your case and sincerely appreciate your feedback. Should you like to follow-up with us about this, we can be reached at contact@medallia.com.

      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Medallia (Toronto, ON)

      Interview

Interview Process comprised of HR screening->behavioral round ->Group panel-> "endless" number of multiple 1:1 interviews by different interviewers (most of them at the same level checking/verifying fit , background) over and over again. Ultimately after multiple such rounds no offer is extended and the feedback for decision is also non-conclusive. Not sure why people are not considerate of time and effort put in by a candidate and would drag it so long. Overall experience points to poor decision making process & leadership .
