I was initially contacted by a Mindbody recruiter. The junior recruiter I spoke to was the most unprofessional, unprepared, and under qualified recruiters I've ever met in my 14 years of professional experience. Interview process: 1. After providing a number available time slots she arranged all of the meetings generically through email calendar invites at completely wrong times. I sent an email to her responding to the incorrect calendar invites 4 different times stating that I was not available. She never contacted me personally to confirm any of these issues. She would just send another invite for the wrong time. Ultimately, I just gave up. The final email from her was for a 10am interview the next day, which was still a conflict with my work schedule. 2. The recruiter then called me the next day at 12:09. By this time you can tell I was already really impressed with Mindbody. 3. She didn't even know the position I was applying for. I applied for the UX Design Manager but she thought I was applying for the UX Designer. I responded to her confusion by stating that I am interested in the UX Manager position. She appeared to have made a decision in her mind that I was applying for the UX Designer position. 4. The interview continued but clearly she new nothing about user experience, user centered design, interaction design, visual design, user research, Mindbody UX team structure, roles and dynamics, or even the technical details of the position. Furthermore, I asked her some generic engineering centered questions but she failed to articulate any real comprehension of software design and development. 5. I then asked her about the company and why she joined and it sounded like I was talking to self-centered, condescending, high school student. She gave me no information about the people, core values, or mission of the company – only that she can wear jeans to work. There was no closure or follow up questions from her and it seemed like she was bored and I was cutting into her personal time. End call. Overall, I am completely unimpressed by Mindbody. It’s a shame because it seems like the product is solid and the website PR about core values do resonate with me. Now I wonder is these core values are just a conceptual marketing tactic produced by a contracted brand agency - not the company itself. I would recommend hiring people that are competent and qualified for the recruiter role. First contact is everything and you will lose talent every time if you have incompetent, unprofessional recruiters representing your company. If you are interested in a UX design role I would suggest contacting the Director of User Experience or someone that actually knows about the role.

Interview process involved face to face interviews on Zoom with onsite design heads then India development manager and UX manager. The interviews were in detail asking for your background details, your work experience, your day to day professional tasks, challenges faced and career aspirations. Interviewers did check my design portfolio and my design knowledge. They checked my people management skills.
