The first part was a phone interview with a HR representative. The second interview was with the hiring manager. After a month, I was called for an in-person interview that was 2 ½ hours. A few days after the interview, I was contacted by HR and asked to provide references. The following week HR contacted me again and I was scheduled for an interview with the AVP. A few days after that interview, HR called and left a voicemail stating that they were moving forward with other candidates for the position. I called and left a voicemail asking if I could receive feedback on my candidacy. I never received a response. I understand that the job was not guaranteed. However, after spending over a month and a half of interviewing, providing references and a work sample, I would at least expect a response. A little empathy goes a long way. Keep in mind that candidates invest time, effort and finances into preparing for interviews. When a candidate provides time to be interview, they deserve feedback. Don’t leave candidates hanging, give them closure.
