My interview went well and I was told to expect an email from HR with details about when I would start, which days I would work, and such. After three weeks, I emailed HR requesting this information as I was told I was to be working in February, and I would like to have those details and provide any otherwise necessary information about myself as soon as possible. Two hours after sending this email, I was called to be informed that they had already moved on with another applicant - something that they had never otherwise informed me of. I had been left waiting for the promised follow up response for weeks, unaware of their decision to proceed with someone else. The lack of communication and professionalism in this interaction belied a lack of respect for applicants and potential employees. It is one thing to change your mind or to not hire someone, but to not even call or email regarding the change in plans is rather negligent of a reputable business.
