I showed up at the open interviews for district manager. I was told to seek out the retail manager position. I was not really excited about this position, but I continued. I had to complete a skills test online and a background check was completed.
I drove about 2 hours to go to a RJP and shadow the manager. It was a good experience, and I learned quite a bit. Make sure you ask any and all questions at this point. Look and listen to see what the job really entails. I did discover that the typical day is about 10.5 hours min for the retail managers. This will be the typical schedule with weekends off. (based upon no call offs)
I met then with the HR person over the phone and since I was an A listed candidate, I had to meet with the divisional director (1.5 hour drive).
There are some great strengths with this company, strong name and strong work ethic, but the life balance is not something that is there. They offered a nice amount, but are you living to work or work to live?
