The process started with a brief phone call with HR, followed by a brief phone interview with the hiring manager. I was contacted by HR to set up an in person interview with the hiring manager and several team members both junior and senior. The in person meetings lasted over 6 hours. The process was smooth, and the feedback seemed to be extremely positive. The hiring manager laid out the remaining part of the process and stated that I was a clear finalist. Some other positive feedback came from senior members responding to my thank you emails. All the face to face meetings went extremely well and I was told my next/final steps would be meeting the head of the group etc in the coming weeks.
About a week and a half later I was asked to complete behavioral, verbal, and math assessment tests. I thought they went well. After 6 weeks went by, I finally heard that they were going with another candidate.
I have heard stories from other people who shared similar experiences. I will never pursue an opportunity at this firm ever again. It is truly insulting the way things were handled, as well as eye opening to see how the team and company actually operates. For a firm that prides themselves on hiring people that exhibit integrity, this could not be farther from the truth. It is clear they are a lower tier investment firm that will suffer down the road. It is also important to note that there are several other more prestigious firms out there, that treat candidates and employees with respect.
