I was contacted by an internal recruiter. Interview process consisted of a phone screen with the internal recruiter, a phone interview with the HR manager, and then a 2 hour onsite panel interview.
Everyone was very friendly and easy to talk to. I was able to answer most of the interview questions and I felt I would fit in greatly with the role and team. After the interview, I got a short tour of the office, which is an open floor plan office so if you like cubicle walls, you won't find that here. People sat fairly close together, but the atmosphere in the office was good so it seemed like people really got along well there.
I was very confident after the interview that I would get a positive response. I was contacted a week after the interview and told that they delayed hiring for the role. This indicates that they likely did not get executive sponsorship for the role before interviewing or they have some internal dysfunction that caused this. This outcome was the main reason for rating the interview experience as negative, as it was a waste of time and money for all involved. If the reason I did not get the job was because I was not a good fit, I would have understood and rated them differently. But it seemed I was a great fit, but they did not have their internal business in order, causing it to fall through.
