My interviewing experience started great and quickly went downhill from there. I applied online and also reached out on LinkedIn to get connected with someone in HR. To my surprise, the recruiter reached out to me (not sure if the LinkedIn referral helped) and we set up a phone interview. The phone interview was pretty standard and she told me she was going to set up a 30 min phone interview with the hiring manager - great so far. Then I waited and waited and finally the recruiter gets back to me saying the hiring manager would call me on xx date/time - ok, great. Afterwards, I realized she never gave me the name of the hiring manager and I also asked her for any insight going into the phone interview. Waiting game again, but during that time I searched LinkedIn to see if I could find the hiring manager. I emailed the recruiter asking if "this person" was the hiring manager. Luckily, she got back to me the day before the interview that was the hiring manager. Fast forward to the hiring manager interview, overall I thought it went well and I answered questions thoroughly; however, the hiring manager thought we were scheduled for an hour and I was thinking it was only 30 minutes like the recruiter informed me. Afterwards, more waiting and waiting. I followed up with the recruiter twice to get a status update. It's been 3 months and I've received no word :( Obviously they gave the job to someone else which is fine; however, it would be nice to at least get an automated email that I've been declined. The experience definitely tarnished my view of them as an employer and makes me hesitant keeping my membership and spending $$ at REI.
