After applying, making a video, a phone interview, then if you’re lucky, endure an Excruciating long, huge group interview, in the shoe department, sitting for hours on uncomfortable wood benches. Very much a popularity contest, and seasonal hires only cashier. I never heard back from anyone about if I was hired or not, so I called the store directly to ask if I should be there for the training the following day. I was treated like I was the one that didn’t know what was happening and they said I should have received an email stating I was not hired. I didn’t. Not in my junk mail. I know how email works. After two weeks of dealing with corporate at REI, they admitted that they had screwed up and I was never notified about the job. Now when I shop in store, the manager won’t even make eye contact with me.

Applied at rei.jobs and minutes later received an email saying to complete a HireVue screening. They ask a question, you have three minutes to prepare, and three minutes to record yourself giving an answer. You also get 3-4 retakes per question. Q's were 1. Introduce yourself and tell us what interests you about REI. 2. What is great customer service to you? Talk about a time you received great customer service and what was the outcome? 3. Talk about a time you were assigned a new and unfamiliar task. How did you handle it and what was the outcome? They then ask a few logistical questions about hours and wages. 5 days later, I got an email from my location saying to call to schedule a second interview. The second interview was through microsoft teams. I did the interview, and got a call 2 days later with a offer for the position.

Applied and was automatically sent interview link that had three response questions and a multiple choice section. I recieved an email from the hiring manager after one day, reminding me to complete the interview, but did not hear back once it was submitted.
