I interviewed for a contract position with Kobo in Toronto through Core Consultancy. The process included an initial screening by the consultancy (with 3 basic questions), a 30-minute interview with the Head of Mobile Engineering, a take-home assignment that took 3–4 hours, and a final 1.5-hour panel interview with four members of the Android team.
While communication during the earlier rounds was consistent, I have not received any update since completing the final interview. I followed up via email looping in Core Consultancy, Kobo HR, and the recruiter but received no response.
From a candidate’s perspective, this is a frustrating and unprofessional experience. Investing 5–6 hours into a multi-stage process only to be met with silence shows a clear lack of basic courtesy and respect. It doesn’t take much effort to inform a candidate that they were not selected instead of ghosting, especially when the process involves several rounds and a significant time commitment.
