      Strategic Analyst Interview

      Mar 22, 2014
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Charlotte, NC
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Red Ventures (Charlotte, NC) in Feb 2014

      Interview

1st round: College recruiting. 30 min behavioral and 30 min case interview. Case was easy. 2nd round interviews: Started with a tour. Then had four 30-45 min interviews where they asked a few behavioral questions then discussed the case. These cases were much harder than the initial one. Lunch then final group case where you had 30 min to read and analyze the case yourself. You came together as a group (4 other people) to discuss but not necessarily agree on conclusions. Higher management came in and took note of who talked about what.

      Question 1

Most difficult part were the cases (2nd round). They're not your typical consulting cases, but they still require strategy and a conceptual view of the data. That was definitely the hardest, but the actual calculation/math part was easy.

      Interview

Applied online after my universities career fair. Very simple and straightforward first HR interview, followed by a case interview with some simple mental math and analysis. Final round was a superday at the headquarters, with a tour followed by three 30 min interviews and one long group interview with Excel

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Red Ventures (Charlotte, NC) in Dec 2018

      Interview

I applied through my university portal. I was contacted a few weeks later asking to choose a time for an initial call. We had a very brief call with some behavioral questions. I was informed soon after that they wanted to do another call, this time a case interview. The case interview consisted of a sales funnel, running percentage questions down a funnel and asking why I thought certain things could be the way they are. For example, how would signups for a phone plan differ over the internet than over the phone? After that, I was invited to a final interview in Charlotte on campus. They began with a tour of the campus, and eventually I had three back-to-back interviews. Two were brief cases similar to the ones I did before with behavioral sprinkled throughout. One was more a discussion about how I would run my own business considering different factors. Finally, there was an excel case, where we were given numbers in excel and had to fill in profits/figures and create simple equations. We then had to discuss our findings. I was contacted a few days later with an offer. Overall, it was a relatively easy interview process, and they took good care of the people they interviewed. It's a very cool, young company and everyone who interviewed seemed to really enjoy their jobs.
