Rokt's General Counsel essentially used me to train another exec on their "Bar Raiser" interview. Rokt really pushed for me to come into the office from a different city for this Bar Raiser, and I ended up spending a whole day because he chose to still interview me, with a trainee in the room, even though he knew it would go nowhere.
Either that, or he was unaware of a company reorg, hiring freeze, and hiring strategy shift during my interview, which was two business days before the announcement. I highly doubt that given his position. If he truly did not know, that's a whole different problem with the company, as I would expect General Counsel to be part of the conversation or at least informed more than two business days before this type of announcement.
Thankfully my recruiter, who was truly kept in the dark about this, pushed for Rokt to refund my train ticket given the circumstances. I don't blame her or the hiring manager, but I am extremely disappointed that the General Counsel used me for training purposes. He definitely could have told the recruitment team to not push for me to commute 4.5 hours (9 hours round trip), or trained on a candidate who was not intending to relocate.
