Pretty standard SWE interview process except for the antiquated aptitude test they require. Not great for the company image, that test belongs in the 90’s. However, what truly put me off of Rokt was my interviewers. I sensed some kind of power dynamic between my interviewers, as if there was an explicit hierarchy that they were expected to follow. The interviewer who acted as if he was at the top of this hierarchy was extremely unprofessional towards me. Within the first few minutes I was spoken to with a very condescending attitude. I was asked a few vague and overall bad interview questions only to be cutoff mid-sentence. A couple of the questions were clearly attempts to gain information from my experience so the interviewer could learn to do their job. What sealed the deal for me was the live coding exercise. They use standard leetcode. The same interviewer laughed whenever I made a mistake, argued when I pointed out an error with their question, and was overall hostile. I think they were intimidated by my abilities. Overall, I got the impression that Rokt has a bad culture and hires sub-par folks. I would guess that title inflation is also a thing here, because there was nothing senior about my “senior” interviewers. Avoid this place.
