A Skillable recruiter reached out to me via LinkedIn and asked if I would be interested in setting up an interview for the position. The job title and description clearly indicated that it is a management position. For the record, being a manager is not a requirement for me, but I went in to the interview with this expectation because of the job description. The first question the recruiter asked me was "If you are going to move jobs, do you want to be in a management position?" I thought it was a strange question, considering the job description, but I said yes. I was thinking maybe the recruiter was just confirming because "management" was clearly in the job description. The recruiter then told me that, in fact, is not a management position. In that, the person hired would not actually be managing people. I referred to the job description and the bullet points that indicated the nature of the position. Then the recruiter says "I just deleted that." I was thrown off by the real-time change in the job description and the "bait and switch" way it was presented. The interview ended quickly and, no surprise, I was not asked to move forward in the process. It's a shame because it was actually a position that I found very interesting, and for which I am definitely qualified. I assume Skillable agrees since they reached out to me. Overall a very disappointing and unprofessional experience.
